Real estate valuation dispute deadlines near

The deadline for farmers to apply for Current Agricultural Usage Valuation (CAUV) is March 27.

According to information from the office of Lawrence County Auditor Ray T. Dutey, those who do not complete and return the proper paperwork will have their names removed from the program.

Aldo, those whose names are removed from the list must pay a recoupment charge of the savings the program has netted them for the last three years.

Also, the deadline to file a complaint about a property valuation is March 31.

The complaint must be filed with the board of revision, which consists of the county auditor, treasurer and one county commissioner.

The complaint forms are available in the auditor’s office or on this website.

In filing a complaint, the property owner needs to be prepared to state his or her opinion of the value of the property in question, along with proof to substantiate the claim (such as recent appraisal, recent sale of property, or sales of comparable property).
