Lona Virginia Kingery, 77, of Ironton, passed away Monday at her residence.
The Lawrence County native was born Jan. 15, 1932, the daughter of the late Fred and Spicie Brumfield Keeney. She is survived by her husband, William L. Kingery, whom she married Sept. 24, 1949.
Mrs. Kingery attended Rock Camp School and was a former employee for more than 20 years for the Ashland Crafts Dress Factory. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Jane Keeney, Fern Keeney, Ethel Kingery, and Hazel Ashworth and two brothers, Charles Keeney and Fred Keeney.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Virginia VanSant of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, James L. and Becky Kingery of Kitts Hill; three grandchildren, Rusta VanSant, Jennifer Meadows and her husband, Ron, and Jeremy Kingery all of Ironton; three great grandchildren, Gordon Meadows, Gracie VanSant, and Genna Meadows all of Ironton; five brothers, Norbert Keeney and Harold Keeney both of South Point, John Keeney and Jerry Keeney both of Chesapeake and Bill Keeney of Kitts Hill; two sisters, Mildred Graham of South Point and Bonnie Hammock of Florida; a special great nephew, Kyle Keeney, whom she babysat for while growing up and her grandson’s girlfriend, Melanie Pruitt.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Leatherwood Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Bradley officiating. Friends may call 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kingery, Kyle Keeney, Ron Meadows, Ralph Hammock, Johnray Vance, Mark Graham, and Vernon Keeney.
