IRONTON — Three men seriously injured in a car accident in Ironton March 11 remain hospitalized.

Christopher J. Douglas, 24, Emory J. Markel, Jr., 28 and Jerry H. McKinley, 25, were all taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Douglas is listed in critical but stable condition as of Thursday evening. Markel remains in critical condition. McKinley has reportedly been moved to Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., which is located within St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Information on his condition was not available as of press time.

Meanwhile the accident remains under investigation.

“They were all in the same car traveling down South Fifth Street at a high rate of speed and hit a parked vehicle,” Chief Jim Carey said. “I believe we have determined Mr. Markel was the driver.”

Because the investigation is ongoing, no charges have been filed.
