Fairland runners place at indoor meet

PROCTORVILLE — Taking it inside turned out to be a good idea for the Fairland Dragons track team.

Running in the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Indoor state championships Saturday at the University of Akron, the Dragons had several runners place in the Division 2-3 meet.

Senior Megan Brooks topped the performances for Fairland as she cleared 10-feet to place second in the pole vault.

Taking eighth place in the boys 60-meter hurdles was Jordan Aldridge with a personal-best indoor time of 9.25 seconds in the preliminary heat.

The Fairland boys’ 4×400 meter relay team of Jevon Hayes, Kyle Taubenheim, Eddie Adkins and Matt Bloomfield was 10th with a 3:38.71 time.

Fairland will host the Early Bird Relays this Saturday. Field events begin at 10 a.m. with relay events starting at 10:30.

Scheduled to participate in the meet are Ironton, Chesapeake, South Point, Rock Hill (boys), River Valley, Huntington (W.Va.), Wayne (W.Va.), Cabell Midland (W.Va.) girls, and host Fairland.
