Two cars flip in North Second Street crash

A two-vehicle accident in Ironton early Saturday morning sent at least two people to area hospitals.

At 3:29 a.m. Saturday, Ironton Police received a call that two vehicles had collided on Second Street near Sav-a-Lot grocery store.

Both vehicles had rolled over from the impact and people were trapped inside, callers said.

According to the Ironton Police Department log, the Jaws of Life equipment had to be used to remove at least one victim from a vehicle. It is unclear how many people were involved in the accident. The police report is incomplete and was not immediately available.

Victims were taken to both Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky., and St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va, according to police log.

Information on the victims was not available as of press time.

Ironton Police received assistance from the Ironton Fire Department, Coal Grove Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, American Electric Power and Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Services.
