The event will feature over 20 chili entries, local arts and crafts vendors and live entertainment. The Chili Fest and Craft Show will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. A panel of local officials and celebrities will serve as honorary chili judges.

“We are looking forward to celebrating 10 years of chili fest and MRDD Awareness this Saturday,” said Paul B. Mollett, Superintendent. “We are proud of how the community has come together to support our programs over the years, recognizing the many abilities of individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities,” Mollett concluded.

The judges will select the best chili in two categories and the community will have the opportunity to vote for a “People’s Choice” award. For only $1.00, attendees can purchase a bowl and a ballot so they may sample the various recipes and vote for their favorite chili.

King’s Daughters Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center will be at the event on Saturday to offer health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar screenings, and tobacco, heart and stroke education. Other family and children’s activities include an old-fashioned cake walk, balloon animals and face painting.
