Michael Rusk, 59, of Ironton, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. He was born March 31, 1949, in Fairfax, Va., a son of the late James and Jewell McDonie Rusk. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and attended the City Mission. He was formerly employed as a Lawrence County Deputy Sheriff during the terms of Sheriffs Jim Howell and Dan Hieronimus.
Surviving are his former wife, Betty Rusk; two sons, Michael Rusk Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Wurtland, Ky., and James Rusk and his wife, Dolly, of Ironton; two daughters, Cynthia Rusk of Wheelright, Ky., and Paula Chapman and her husband, Ricky, of Gallipolis; two brothers, Danny Rusk and Sandy Rusk and his wife, Paulette, all of Ironton; three sisters, Jan Rusk and her husband, Kevin Childers of Gallipolis, Kay Cumpston of Catlettsburg, Ky., and Jewell Jenkins and her husband, Bill, of Sciotoville; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 8850 in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family asks that memorial donations be made directly to the funeral chapel to help with final expenses.
