Lena Mavis Cade, 86, of Ironton, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at a local health care facility. The Floyd County, Ky. native was born Aug. 24, 1922, the daughter of the late William and Victoria Hamilton Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cade, who died in 1965.
Mrs. Cade was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles “Bill” Cade;
sisters, Jetty Bauer, Jane Sanders, Jo Ann Ervin, Elsa Mae Gullett, Charlotte Caudill, and Emma Gunther; brothers, William Hall, Milford Hall and Elmer Hall; two grandsons, Michael Hughes and Mark Pennington; and a son-in-law, William Stafford.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Stafford of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, Denver Ray and Judy Cade of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Ann and Howard Bailey of Russell, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Eugene Hughes of Haverhill; a daughter, Judy Gail Cade of Haverhill; a sister, Roberta Markwell of Tennessee; 18 grandchildren 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Brother George Cade officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
