COAL GROVE — Alberta Moore Harmon, 81, of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born May 5, 1927, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Troy Zornes Sr. and Martha Webb Zornes. She was a former secretary for Maxwell Trucking Co. and Ashland Inc., a member of the Zoar Baptist Church for more than 50 years and a teacher of the primary Sunday school class. She was an avid gardener, painter and fisherman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and love of her life, Walter Harold “Jack” Moore; a son, Charles Emmitt Moore; and a grandson, Charles E. (Little Charlie) Moore Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline S. Zornes of Coal Grove; a son, Gary Allen Moore of Ironton; a brother, Archie Zornes of Coal Grove; a sister, Dorothy (Tip) Harmon of Jo Lin Health Center; four grandchildren, James Zornes II of Jackson, Eric Moore, John Moore and Amy Moore Cartwright. Also surviving are a special great granddaughter, Samantha N. Zornes of Columbus; a special great-grandson, Jacob (Lijah) Zornes of Jackson; and nieces and nephews on the Moore side of the family.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Beals officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call an hour before the service at the funeral home.
