PEDRO — Megan Russell is beginning to forget she is only a sophomore.

The lack of experience hasn’t bothered Russell who went 4-for-4 to lead the Rock Hill Redwomen to an 11-4 Ohio Valley Conference win over the River Valley Lady Raiders on Monday.

“Megan Russell has upped her game,” said Rock Hill coach Mary Harper. “We’re a young team, but we’re learning and getting better. We have some girls who are starting to pick it up like Megan.”

Jazel DeAutremont, one of two seniors on the team, pitched a four-hitter to get the win. She struck out 12 and walked just two. She also went 2-3 with a triple.

Chelsea Harper and Morgan Schug each went 2-4 as Rock Hill had 11 hits.

Harper singled, stole second and took third on a wild pitch. DeAutremont walked and Russell singled as both runners scored.

River Valley tied the game in the second inning and took a 3-2 lead in the third, but Rock Hill rallied to take the lead for good with four runs in the fifth.

BreeAnna Depriest walked, stole second and Harper reached on an error. Harper stole second and a wild pitch scored Depriest. DeAutremont singled home Harper and went to all the way to third on an error where she scored on a wild pitch.

Russell singled, Morgan Damron was safe on a fielder’s choice and Schug had an RBI single.

The Lady Raiders got a run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 6-4, but Rock Hill came right back in the bottom of the inning to score five times.

Depriest was hit by a pitch, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. Courtney Duncan walked and stole second and Harper singled to drive in both runners and went to second on an error.

DeAutremont tripled to drive in a run and scored when Russell singled. Russell moved up on two wild pitches and scored when Damron reached on an error.

Rock Hill (5-3, 3-1) visits Lucasville Valley on Tuesday and South Point on Wednesday.
