Ironton BOE announces 2009 summer school schedule

IRONTON — The Ironton Board of Education unanimously approved Tuesday the 2009 summer school schedule for kindergarten through eight grades.

Classes will run from June 29 through July 30 from 9 a.m. to noon at Ironton High School. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday. There are no summer school classes on Fridays.

Students are eligible for summer school if they meet one or more of the following criteria.

Student has below proficiency on one or more of the Ohio Achievement Tests.

Student has received a failing grade in one or more core subject areas.

Student received a grade of “Incomplete” on report card for excessive absences and/or for assignments that need to be made up.

Ironton schools do not offer summer school for high school students. High school students needing the mandated hours to take the Ohio Graduation Test or requiring completion of a four-credit class can finalize those courses at the Collins Career Center in Getaway.
