ROBERT BROWN

Robert “ Brownie” Amos Brown, 84 of Ironton, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at a local health care facility.
The Lawrence County native was born Feb.25, 1925, the son of the late Alfred and Anna Belle French Brown.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and was the owner and operator of Brown’s Market in Westwood, Ky., for more than 20 years and was also a vendor at the Milton Flea Market for many years. Mr. Brown was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church of Ironton.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Anna Luree Rapp Brown, who passed away Jan. 8, 1988; five sisters: Mary Young, Florence Goad, Lillian Goad, Addie Marie Flake, and Sarah Rowe and a brother, Alfred Brown.
He is survived by two sisters, Anna Blankenship of Ironton and Sue Switzer of Covington, Ky.; two nieces, Ramona Rapp King of Ironton and Karen Rapp Toney of Crossville, Tenn., and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother John Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. 8850.
