GERALD HARVEY

Gerald L. Harvey, 74, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.. The Ironton, Ohio native was born May 14, 1934, the son of the late Crawford and Rosella Sierer Harvey. He is survived by his wife, Jane S. Maynard Harvey, whom he married June 1964.
Mr. Harvey was a graduate of Ironton High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he attended on a baseball scholarship. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a former crane operator for Armco Steel retiring after 43 years of service. He was a member of Church of Christ in Ironton.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bob Wileman of Ironton; two sons, Gary Harvey Jr. and Chris Harvey, both of Ironton; three grandchildren, Kayla Wileman, Ryan Wileman and Aaron Wileman; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ron Harvey and Joe and Cindy Harvey, all of Ironton.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Woodland Cemetery with Minister Todd Parsley officiating. Friends may call Friday after 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850 and donations may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, Kentucky 41101.
