CHESHIRE — A little bit of everything created a whole lot of runs.
The South Point Lady Pointers used an all-around performance to beat the River Valley Lady Raiders 14-0 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“Everything came together tonight. The hitting, the pitching and, most importantly, the defense,” said South Point coach Steve Baise.
Hannah Huron — who went four innings — and Rachel Murnahan combined to limit River Valley to just two hits.
Ericka Leighty was 2-3 with a double and a home run to lead a 15-hit attack. Courtney Koukos, Tausha Collins and Huron each went 3-4 while Ashlee Kleinman was 2-3.
South Point took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Koukos singled, went to third base on a ground out and passed ball, and scored when Huron singled. Huron moved up on the throw home scored on a hit by Collins
The lead went to 5-0 in the second inning and the Lady Pointers blew the game open with four runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth to create a mercu rule.
Leighty started the inning with a home run. Koukos, Lien and Huron all singled for a run and Collins doubled. Katelyn Leonard grounded out to score a run.
