HUNTINGTON, W. Va. — Tri-State residents have a new way to play a round in the “Seaside Golf Capital of the World,” as low-fare airline Allegiant Air inaugurates nonstop service from the Tri-State Airport to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

To celebrate, the low-cost airline is offering a special $39 one-way fare to the premier golf and beach destination.

“We are extremely pleased to again expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop jet service to the Tri-State residents,” said Maurice J. Gallagher, Allegiant Air president and CEO. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch nonstop service between Huntington and Myrtle Beach.”

The new flights operate two times weekly, with service on Thursday and Sunday. Flights depart Huntington at 9:30 a.m. arriving in Myrtle Beach International Airport at 10:50 a.m.

Flights leaving Myrtle Beach depart at 1:10 p.m. arriving in Huntington at 2:30 p.m. (all flight times are local).

Allegiant also offers nonstop flights to three other vacation destinations; Orlando, Fla., the Tampa Bay, Fla. area and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“We are delighted that Allegiant Air has chosen Tri-State Airport to receive nonstop service to this widely popular vacation spot,” Jerry Brienza, airport director of Tri-State Airport, said. “Allegiant’s affordable, nonstop flights to Florida have been a tremendous addition to the airport and greatly supported by our community.

We are confident our area travelers will have the same enthusiasm for the Myrtle Beach service.”

The carrier will utilize full-size, 150-seat, MD-80 series jet aircraft on the route.

The airline said its market research and input from local community leaders indicate Tri-State residents will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to Myrtle Beach as an alternative to connecting flights or long drives.
