BURLINGTON — If Burlington-Fayette firefighters seem weary these days it is for good reason: they have had four house fires in the past six weeks. The most recent one was at a mobile home at 42 Township Road 1335 Wednesday morning.

Burlington-Fayette Fire Chief Ryan Vaughn said the trailer had been recently emptied.

“The occupants had just moved out and was being cleaned and prepared for a new residence,” Vaughn said. “There were new people who were getting ready to move in.”

Vaughn said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

On April 5, a structure fire at 60 Township Road 1336 caught fire and then rekindled hours later. On April 22, a residence at 8418 County Road 1 caught fire, killing elderly Vernon Bennett. The following day, a fire damaged a residence at County Road 1 and Division Street.
