Rain changes dates for CAO events

SOUTH POINT — The rainy weather has caused some of the events as part of the Celebration of the Child to be postponed until next week.

The Transportation Day has been changed to Wednesday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Early Childhood Center and the Family Fun Day and Resource Fair will be Thursday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Park in Ashland, Ky.

Fund-raiser set for Jacob Thacker

CHESAPEAKE — A fund-raiser for cancer patient, Jacob Thacker will be Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Chesapeake Middle School and High School track and parking lot.

Jacob was diagnosed with medulablastoma, a form of brain cancer in July 2008. He has multiple tumors in his brain and on his spine.

Chesapeake students are holding a Walk-N-Roll-A-Thon fund-raiser open to bikes, skateboards, scooters and skates. Registration is from 9 to 10 a.m. For more information, contact Cecili Nida at the Chesapeake schools at 740-867-3972.
