Redwomen, DeAutremont get win over Lady Golden Rockets

PEDRO — The pitchers kept it close until a pitcher could make the difference.

Rock Hill’s Jazel DeAutremont outdueled Wellston’s Brittni Hall as the Redwomen posted a 3-1 win on Tuesday.

DeAutremont struck out 14, walked one and gave up just two hits. Wellston’s Brittni Hall fanned seven and walked one.

DeAutremont had a hand in the win offensively, too, mainly in the first inning when Rock Hill took a 2-0 lead.

Chelsea Harper tripled, DeAutremont walked and Megan Russell grounded out as Harper scored. DeAutremont went to third base on the play and scored when the relay throw got past the third baseman.

The Redwomen got an insurance Morgan Schug was hit by a pitch, Dani Crabtree put down a sacrifice bunt, Nicole Stamper singled and stole second, and Harper followed with an RBI single.

Wellston’s only run scored in the sixth when Chelsie Folden reached on an error and Breanna Hall singled.

Rock Hill (11-5) hosts Huntington Ross on Wednesday.
