WASHINGTON, D.C — Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) announced Friday that the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization (CAO) will receive a federal grant worth $425,000 under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Center Cluster Program.

The funding will go toward hiring up to three additional doctors and purchasing additional medical equipment.

The Ironton-Lawrence County CAO operates four medical centers throughout Lawrence County. It is dedicated to protecting the health of the Ironton-Lawrence communities, regardless of patients’ financial situations.

“Since 2000, health insurance premiums have more than doubeld, but wages have stagnated,” Wilson said. “This double whammy is hitting working families extremely hard. Many families rely on community health clinics as their main healthcare provider. Congratulations to the Ironton-Lawrence CAO for both creating jobs and for investing in much needed healthcare.”
