JACKSON — Cyrus E. Knipp Jr., 90, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Heartland Nursing Home in Jackson.
He was born Oct. 13, 1918 in Louisville Ky., to the late Cyrus E. Knipp Sr. and Ida Susan (Barker) Knipp.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sophia; and sister, Avondale Knipp.
He is survived by daughters, Ida Mae Freeman, of Marion, Audrey Bloomfield, of Pedro, Betty Bloomfield, of Plymouth, Ind., and Minnie Bloomfield, of Wellwood; sons, Norm Knipp, of Marion, Clinton (Martha) Knipp, of Pedro, Merrill Knipp, of Waterloo, and Albert Knipp, of Marion. Also surviving are sisters, Lorene (Oscar) McFann, Reba Cade, Arlene Bryant, Dinah Mae Bryant; brother, Merrill (Phyllis) Knipp; 22 grandchildren, and 50 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at the Gallia Baptist Church in Gallia with the Rev. Kenny Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Gallia Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home in Oak Hill.
