SOUTH POINT — Richard K. “Dick” Phelps, 69, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 6, 2009, from Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Richard was born June 7, 1939, in North Kenova, a son of the late Richie and Hazel Gibson Phelps.
He was a graduate of South Point High School, an Air Force veteran, was an elder at South Point Church of Christ, and retired as a shifter operator from Steel of West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nick Phelps.
Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Childers Phelps; three children, Kelli (Kenny Carter) Phelps, Karen (Tim) Collins, and Rick Phelps, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Timmy, Andy, and Tori Collins, and Joey, Kerrigan, Makenzie, and Phoebe Phelps; two sisters, Judy (Curt) Roberts and Becky (Danny) Price; one sister-in-law, Hazel Phelps; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Minister Michael Trivette officiating. Burial will follow in Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock, W.Va.
