Probation violations and drunk driving were among the issues tackled last week in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Christopher Jenkins, 24, of 2572 County Road 5, Kitts Hill, admitted he violated his probation, also known as community control sanctions, by failing to report to his probation officer, testing positive for drug use and consorting with people who were arrested on drug charges — convicted felons are prohibited from consorting with other felons or with people known to abuse drugs and alcohol. Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Jeff Smith said when the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force recently conducted a drug raid they found Jenkins at the home they were raiding. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Jenkins to 18 months in prison.

Lewis Ford Jr., 37, of 103 Fourth St., E. South Point, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated. Cooper sentenced him to 17 months in prison. If Ford stays out of trouble while he is behind bars, he could be eligible for judicial release after four months if he is admitted to a community based correctional facility.

“I want to caution you that your conduct will have an effect on that motion (for judicial release),” Cooper warned Ford.

Ford has been convicted of DUI three times previously.

Darius Aldridge, 44, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal non-support.

He was placed on five years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP) and was ordered to pay $212 monthly toward an $18,000 arrearage for one child.

Ronald W. Hundley, 44, of Eden, N.C., was arraigned on charges of intimidation of a police officer and resisting arrest. He pleaded not guilty through his attorney, Mike Davenport. Judge D. Scott Bowling allowed bond posted in lower court to continue and ordered him to return to court July 1 for a pretrial conference.
