The stars will come out in the daylight this time, and two of the stars have been shining locally for several years.
Ironton senior tight end Michael Lamb and Coal Grove senior offensive lineman Travis Sherman will be playing in the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association annual North/South All-Star Classic to be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ohio Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University.
The game is sponsored by Grange Insurance.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Lamb was a key on offense and defense as Ironton went 8-4 and advanced to the Division IV regional semifinals.
A first team All-Southeast District and All-Ohio selection, Lamb caught 22 passes for 456 yards — nearly 21 yards a reception — and a pair of touchdowns.
Lamb will be a red-shirt walk-on at Marshall University this fall and go on scholarship the following season.
Sherman, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman, helped Coal Grove to a share of the Ohio Valley Conference championship. He was a first team Division V all-district selection and special mention All-Ohio.
The South team includes several Division I recruits including Mississippi running back Stephen Houston, Penn State lineman Nate Cadogan who played at Portsmouth, Cincinnati’s Mike Hilty and West Virginia’s Branko Busick.
