ASHLAND, Ky. — This June about 100 teenagers from Georgia will travel to the area to complete a faith based mission project for Kingdom Builders.

Kingdom Builders seeks to provide for teenagers, college students and adults an opportunity to show Christ’s love through the act of service by enhancing personally owned housing of individuals or families. This hands-on approach teaches personal commitment to Christ and missions.

Kingdom Builders (KB) is a non-profit mission organization that was founded in 1999.

KB’s home office is located in Statesboro, Georgia where the ministry runs year-round. Each summer KB selects 2 to 4 cities across the southeastern part of the United States to complete a youth mission project.

Last summer Ashland was selected as a host city for a 2009 youth project location.

Teenage volunteers, with the guidance of knowledgeable adult chaperones, will be completing 10 to 15 home repair projects.

Repairs include roofing, handicap ramp installations, replacing flooring, cabinet replacement, ceiling replacements, porch improvements, and indoor/outdoor painting. In addition to home repair projects, student volunteers will be landscaping yards, serving at the Community Kitchen, providing a KB Kids Club at Hillcrest Bruce Mission, and serving in a local nursing home.

Boyd County Middle School will be housing Kingdom Builders and the Jonathan and Lisa Moore Band will be leading worship services each evening.

Qualified home repair applicants have already been selected and will receive repairs June 21 to June 27.

Applicants must own their own home, must be considered low-income by the Federal Government, and must not sell their home for three years after repairs are made.

To complete free home repairs, Kingdom Builders is seeking community support. Local business or private support is welcome.
