ROME TOWNSHIP — A $10,000 cash or surety bond was set Friday morning for Dan Dial, the Proctorville area man arrested after a four and a half hour standoff with law enforcement the day before.

The bond was set in Lawrence County Municipal Court by Judge Donald R. Capper. Dial was also instructed to hire his own attorney. He faces charges of domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor; possessing a firearm with a disability, a third degree felony; and inducing panic, a fourth degree felony.

He was arrested Thursday morning by Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies at his home at 108 Township Road 1060. Deputies had been called there around 4:30 a.m. with a call on a possible domestic abuse case and hostage situation.

Dial’s wife and three children left the house about two hours later.

At 9:30 a.m. Dial was arrested after deputies entered his house and he was found asleep in a bedroom.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said the woman had sustained bruising on her arms and that Dial had been drinking.

A preliminary hearing was set in Capper’s court for 10 a.m. July 10.
