IRONTON — Jerry Wayne Geer, 68, of Ironton, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born February 26, 1941 in Sparta, Tenn., son of the late David and Irene Geer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Dave and Denton Geer; maternal grandparents Clay and Dovie Billings; and nephew John Geer.
Jerry was a 40-year member of Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18. His passion for heavy equipment continued even after his early retirement.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Fife Geer; son Terry Geer and his wife Andrea; granddaughter Allison of Doyle, Tenn.; stepdaughter Brooke Brumett and husband David of Berea, Ky.; stepson Bryon Vickers of South Point; step-grandchildren Tegen Vickers, Nathanial, Natalie, and Natasha Brumett; sisters Carolyn (Tom) Freeman, Faye (Buck) Gibson, Sherry (Randy) Smith; brothers Lynn (Susan) Geer, Dale (Michelle) Geer; sister-in-law Marjorie Geer; mother-in-law Myrtle Treadway; stepmother Lanell Geer; sisters-in-law Katherine (Sam) Meyers; Donna Tackett and Kyra (Dallas) Berry. He also leave behind many other beloved family members and friends including special friends Dale Chapman, Bill Allen, and Tim McKenzie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bryon Vickers, Anthony Fife, Brent Geer, Shane Freeman, David Smith, Justin Smith, James Meyers, Kyle Berry and Nathanial Brumett.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio with funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. by Pastor Roger Pierce. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
