New parks need variety to match Beechwood’s appeal

Remember Beechwood Park? In the 1970s it included tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground, picnic tables, a baseball field and a bandstand.
Seems like there was always something happening there – no doubt the mix of facilities was a big part of the park’s popularity.
Based on the Beechwood model, adding a skate park to Etna Street Park is a good step toward offering residents a multi-use facility in a central location.
Hopefully this project will serve as a springboard for future upgrades to the city parks.
