Time Warner adds HD

Ironton — Time Warner Cable digital cable subscribers can now watch popular cable channels like Discovery, Golf, and National Geographic Channel in high definition with the addition of fifteen new HD channels throughout to the company’s Free HD Tier of service.

The new HD channels are available at no additional charge to digital cable customers. To view the channels in high definition, customers will need an HD converter box and an HD television.

New channel additions include:

ABC Family HD – channel 774

ESPN News HD – channel 782

Golf HD – channel 779

Outdoor Channel HD – channel 781

Discovery HD – channel 763

Fox News Channel HD – channel 786

Speed HD – channel 780

CNN News HD – channel 785

History Channel HD – channel 769

Bravo HD – channel 759

With the addition of fifteen new HD channels, Time Warner Cable’s Free HD Tier now includes twenty-two high definition channels.

“We are always looking for new ways to add more value to our digital cable service,” said Time Warner Cable Manager Russ Pomfrey.

“We know that our customers love watching TV in HD and we’re proud to be able to deliver as much as we can in high definition. Time Warner Cable is the only provider that does not charge for the majority of HD programming available and provides On Demand content in HD.”

These high definition channels are free to customers who already subscribe to the level of service that includes the standard definition feed of that channel and are equipped with an HD receiver and HD ready television.
