JAMES CASSELL

James Edward Cassell, 63, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Ashland, Ky., passed away Friday, June 26, 2009.
James was born Jan. 20, 1946, in Frankfort, Ky., to the late Edward and Mary Cassell. He was a golf course manager of the Punta Gorda Golf Course and a former Ashland Police officer. He was a member of Ashland Elks Lodge No. 350 BPOE, Moose Lodge #892, Ashland Eagles Club, Lawrence County York Rite Association, and a former member of Indra Consistory Valley of Covington Scottish Rite and El Hasa Shrine Temple.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Cassell, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and a son, Robert E. Cassell, of Ironton.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, at Melvin Cemetery in Deering. Elks services will be conducted by officers and members of Elks Lodge No. 350 and Masonic services by officers and members of Fred M. Gross Lodge No. 953 F&AM. Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers contributions in James’ memory may be made to Shrines Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Rd., Lexington, KY 40502-1204.
