Boil advisory issued in South Point

SOUTH POINT — Due to a water line break on Thursday, the South Point Water Department is advising residents on the following streets to vigorously boil, for at lease one minute, any water used for drinking (including water used to make ice), cooking or oral hygiene: Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, 10th, 11th, Linden, Auburn, Nelson, Park, Center, Margaret, Dean, Keith, Shannon, Washington, High, Alma and Fairview.

The South Point Water Department has no evidence at this time that the water system is contaminated. The possibility does exist however and is issuing this advisory as a precaution.

If no further notice is given after Wednesday, then the samples are normal and the water is safe.

Rep. Evans to hold public meeting

COLUMBUS — State Representative Clyde Evans (R- Rio Grande) will have an open door public meeting for constituents in eastern Lawrence County.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for the general public to discuss their views and opinions with Rep. Evans on state government issues.

The meeting will be 4 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the Chesapeake Library.

Actors wanted for Sawyer performance

ASHLAND, Ky. — The Paramount Arts Center is looking for actors for The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Auditions are 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19 at the Paramount.

The performance is an in-house production for the PAC and will be directed by Melanie Sweeney, Paramount’s Education Director.

“We are looking for actors of all experience levels,” Sweeney said. “This is a great opportunity for young people to get some acting experience.”

There are parts for actors ages 10 through adult. The performances will be Sept. 28 through 30.
