Local man honored for service

IRONTON — Bill Lockwood of Central Christian Church in Ironton was honored at the June 15 Quarterly Men and Boys Supper Meeting. Bill was born and educated in Ashland, Ky.

He is a U.S. Army Veteran serving for three and half years in the South Pacific during WW II.

Bill retired from Armco Steel in Ashland where he spent over 40 years and served in the blast furnace as a foreman.

Bill was married to Wilma, passed on in 2007, and had two children, Donna, who is deceased and Greg.

Bill has been a crucial member at Central Christian Church.

He has served in many capacities, one of which was a church trustee for 30 years, another was that of a church elder for 50 years.

He still serves with the “Central Food Pantry” on a regular basis. He is always in attendance at regularly scheduled services.

Bill has many skills in which he has used to assist the KYOWVA Kingdom Builders (Volunteer Church Builders).

He has assisted us with several building projects, in which KYOWVA has been able to save churches and camps several thousands of dollars.

Bill has been a KYOWVA financial backer for a lengthy period.
