Jazz Alley set for July 17 at PAC

ASHLAND, Ky. — Jazz lovers can join in ON STAGE at the Paramount Arts Center on Friday July 17 at 8 p.m. Glenn and Lisa Ginn will perform their unique blend of jazz compilations. VA hospital gets $4.9M in stimulus

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — The Huntington Veterans Administration Medical Center is getting $5.9 million in federal stimulus funding to help pay for a new mental health complex.

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall says the funding released by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will allow for work to begin on renovating a vacant 15,000 square-foot-building adjacent to the hospital.

Rahall said Tuesday that all outpatient mental health services will be relocated to the building.

Huntington VA Medical Center Director Edward H. Seiler says the new complex will include three other buildings.

Sen. Carey holding open door session

ROME TOWNSHIP — State Sen. John Carey (R-Wellston) will hold an open door session during the Lawrence County Fair on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Republican Party booth.

During the session, constituents in Lawrence County and throughout the 17th District will have the opportunity to speak with Carey one-on-one about issues concerning state government and the region, as well as discuss any personal matters regarding state agencies. The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend.

Carey explained that the county fair is not only important to Ohio’s agriculture industry but is a great venue for meeting with constituents.

“The county fair is a celebration of how much agriculture means to our communities and to the economies of our great state,” said Carey. “It is one of my favorite places to meet with constituents.”
