WEST CARROLLTON — Beatrice Ellen Fields Jones, 83, of West Carrollton, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at Kettering Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 28, 1926 in Ironton, a daughter of Ray and Elva (Thacker) Fields. She was the widow of Bill A. Jones, whom she married July 7, 1943 and who died March 2, 1993.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was a devoted Christian. She was active in her church, holding positions of board member, missionary society delegate and Vacation Bible School director.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Fields and Charles Fields and a sister, Eva Fields.
Surviving are two daughters, Nita (Robert) Sims of West Fork, Ark., and Michelle (Robert) Haff of Tippecanoe; two sons, Bill A. Jones II of Battle Creek, Mich., and Joseph (Linda) Jones of North Ridgeville; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Joann Jenkins of Denver, Colo., Joyce Gates of Ironton and Sharon Dupree of Monaca, Penn.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morris Sons Funeral Home in Kettering with the Rev. David Schooler officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
