Will America get the right solution to its health care system or will it get the fast-track solution that is being pushed through by politics?

That is the question that only President Barack Obama and the U.S. Congress can answer as the administration and legislators on both sides of the aisle wrangle over finding an overhaul plan to the current inefficient, money-hemorrhaging system we have.

But the key thing not to lose sight of is that our current health care system is still among — or atop — the best in the world. Millions of Americans get the care they need and our medical advances save lives each and every day.

This is one problem where legislators have to be sure before making a change.

Right now, Obama is pushing hard to have some form of overhaul passed by the end of July or August. Why the rush?

Well, politics, of course.

The president is under a fair amount of pressure to make this happen with many Democrats feeling that he is at the crest of support to accomplish this in the first year. Plus, critics will jump on this as a failure if Obama doesn’t succeed now and live up to his campaign promises.

More than 50 million Americans are without insurance. Even though the government does its best to provide coverage for the poor, elderly and children, the reality is that there are many of even these demographics who don’t have coverage or don’t have adequate coverage.

Plus, as unemployment increases and the cost of living skyrockets more and more people are falling out of the insured ranks.

It is obvious that America’s health care system needs fixed — and it needs fixed soon.

But let’s makes sure we get it right, not just fast.
