Iron Valley stars regional bound

Hopefully seven is a lucky number for the Iron Valley Girls Senior League All-Stars.

The Ohio team is comprised of seven players from Ironton and seven from Symmes Valley and will represent the state in the senior league regional tournament in South Bend, Ind., next week.

Team members are: Nikki Elswick, Karlee McMackin, Andi Kratzenberg, Saige Fields, Emily Davis, Bekkah Potter and Karlie Collins from Ironton and Brooke Skinner, Jessie Morris, Kayla Ross, Chelsea Wall, Nikki Nance, Erica Corn and Chelsea Keathley from Symmes Valley.

Coaches are Bill Nance, Ron Estep and Dallas Tibbs.

Pool play begins on Sunday with Ohio playing Indiana at 7 p.m. Ohio plays Iowa at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Illinois at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

If Ohio is one of the top two teams in pool play, they advance to the regional semifinals in a single elimination tournament beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Finals are in the evening.

The regional champion advances to the Little League World Series.

The other pool consists of teams from Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin and the host team from South Bend.
