SOUTH POINT —Mr. Charles W. Davis, 87, of South Point, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, with his family at his side.
He was born July 2, 1922, in South Point, the son of the late Charles and Kathryn Rebecca Davis. He retired from Allied Chemical in 1979 after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Baptist faith, member of the American Legion, Proctorville Masonic Lodge 0550, an avid golfer and he loved Nascar.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, J.B. Stamper; three brothers, George, Robert and Carl Davis, and one sister, Rose Weser.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Brown Stamper Davis; two sons, Chuck Davis, Jr. and his wife Sherri of Baton Rouge, La., and Charles Stamper and his wife Jayne of Barboursville, W.Va.; two daughters, Gayle Michael and her husband Bill of St. Albans, W.Va., and Brenda Dassell and her husband Buddy of Georgetown, Ky.; one brother, Billy Davis and his wife Betty of Ashland, Ky.; four sisters, Ann Barnett of South Point, Mary Young of Gallipolis, Hazel Elliot and Charlotte Norris both of Burlington; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Caudill officiating. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Friday. A private burial will be at a later date.
