Laura Katherine Jenkins, 99, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 21, 1909, the daughter of the late James Edward and Johanna Marie Boll Gannon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Hayes Jenkins, who passed away April 3, 1989.
Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed taking care of her granddaughters and her great grandchildren. They were the loves of her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ralph E. Jenkins and Ray Jenkins; three brothers, Harold Gannon, Arnold Gannon and Frank Gannon; a sister, Ruth Myers and a great grandson, James Edward Harrison.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Betty Jenkins of Ironton; three granddaughters and two grand sons-in-law, Donna and Marion Harrison, Beverly and David Bruce and Elaine Jenkins, all of Ironton; two great grandsons and two great granddaughters-in-law, Scott and Kim Harrison and Brian and Michele Harrison, all of Ironton; two stepgreat-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a great great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Wise and David Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
