American Legion Post 433 not going anywhere

Published 10:04 am Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Recently, some of the members of the American Legion Post 433 in Ironton received a letter in the mail indicating our post may have disbanded and a new post started called “Waterloo Wonders Memorial American Legion Post 806” in Aid.

The letter suggests you should transfer your membership to that post. The Department of Ohio will not execute the transfer because of the misrepresentations in the letter and the simple fact the post does not exist.

It also has no charter. A copy of the letter that is circulating has been sent to The Department of Ohio American Legion.

Dennis Claussing, first vice-commander, Department of Ohio, is investigating this letter and its author. In addition, Dave Bussler, commander, Seventh District American Legion of Ohio, is also looking into the misrepresentations in this letter.

They are the ones that suggested we place this article in the local newspapers.

Rest assured we are still here (Post 433). Our meetings are at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Ironton City Center, first floor.

The post officers are listed for your benefit: Jim Volgares, commander, 534-8523; Bill Jordan, adjutant, (304) 360-2702 and Tom McClain, first vice-president, 532-8284. If you have any questions please call one of these officers.

Jim Volgares, Commander, Post 433, American Legion
