Lawrence County Farm Bureau is participating in the “Growing a Masterpiece” art project at this year’s Ohio State Fair. Artist Jonda Carpenter has transformed a blank, oversized “postcard” into a work of art.

Carpenter was selected by the Lawrence County Farm Bureau to transform the postcard into an artistic representation of agriculture in Lawrence County.

The name of the exhibit at the State Fair is “Greetings from Ohio Agriculture.”

As a special project of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Our Ohio, each county Farm Bureau was provided a postcard that was to be transformed into a painting.

Artists were encouraged to use a variety of materials when creating their design, resulting in a wide array of vibrant and imaginative creations. Each of Ohio’s 88 counties is represented in this project.

The postcards can be seen at the Ohio State Fair in Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s Land & Living Exhibit through Aug. 9.

Here, the postcards will be voted upon by the public for the “Best of Show” award to be given at the conclusion of the project in November. Lawrence County residents are encouraged to view and vote for their favorite postcards online at OurOhio.org.
