COAL GROVE — It’s like trying to get a glimpse of that Christmas present without mom or dad catching you.
The Ohio Valley Conference football preview was held Friday as fans were treated to a taste of the area’s favorite past-time: High school football.
The games were just two quarters, but the balance coaches are expecting in the regular season was evident in their debuts.
Rock Hill had the biggest margin of victory with a 29-6 win over River Valley in the first game of the night.
Chesapeake slipped past South Point 7-6 in the second game and Coal Grove capped the evening off with a 13-0 win over Fairland.
The preview match-ups are based on each team’s final regular season opponent.
The regular season gets underway this Friday and fans can get an in-depth look at what to expect on Thursday when The Tribune publishes its annual high school football preview special section.
Friday’s lineup includes: Wheelersburg at Ironton, Meigs at Coal Grove, Rock Hill at Chillicothe Zane Trace, Portsmouth at South Point, Oak Hill at Chesapeake, Fairland at Portsmouth West, Symmes Valley at Racine Southern and Green at Manchester.
