PORTSMOUTH (AP) — Authorities say they plan to close the juvenile-detention center in southern Ohio’s Scioto County because there’s not enough money to continue operating it.

Judge James Kirsch said yesterday that the Scioto County Juvenile Detention Center in Portsmouth will shut down September 11.

Talks are being held with other counties to make detention arrangements for inmates now held at the center in Portsmouth, 85 miles south of Columbus.
