Wii event kicks off teen programs

ASHLAND, Ky. — Boyd County Public Library will kick off another fun year of Teen Tuesdays programs on Sept. 8 with a Wii gaming night.

The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Main Branch, 1740 Central Ave. Any area teen is welcome to come play Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, or a variety of other Wii games.

The Library will have three Wii systems set up, so there will be plenty of playing time for everyone. Refreshments will be served.

Teen Tuesdays is a monthly program held on the second Tuesday and is sponsored by the Teen Library Council.

Each month features a different topic and/or activity, many of them selected by the teen council members.

The October Teen Tuesdays has already been scheduled — a graphic novel workshop — but TLC members will help pick the programming for the remainder of the year.

The council meets at 4:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month — just before Teen Tuesdays.

TLC also helps select materials for the young adult collection and suggests ways to improve services for teen patrons.

The group is in need of new members for the 2009-2010 year.
