CHILLICOTHE — As the Ohio Department of Transportation awards contracts across the state for projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), work begins on another stimulus-funded project in ODOT District 9.

Construction is scheduled to start Tuesday on State Route 217, where the route will be closed at the 5.79-mile marker for a bridge replacement over Dick Creek. The project site is located just west of State Route 378 at Linnville.

“In transforming our transportation system, Ohio is making historic levels of investment across the state, and these investments are putting people back to work,” said District 9 Deputy Director James Brushart.

With the start of this project, motorists will notice new signs at the construction site, recognizing the use of stimulus funds. The signs – which read “Putting America to Work” – are being erected when work begins at all stimulus-funded projects across Ohio.
