Katherine M. Arthur, 92, of Ironton went to be with the Lord on Sept. 5, 2009, at King’s Daughter Medical Center with her daughters, June and Kathy and granddaughters, Bonnie and Brianna, at her side.   The Portsmouth native was born Jan. 22, 1917, the daughter of the late Owen and Mary Davidson Cales.
Mrs. Arthur was a 1936 graduate of Ironton High School and a member of Zoar Baptist Church in Coal Grove.  She retired in 1982 as a machine operator for Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton and had lived most of her life in the Ironton/Coal Grove area.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Bill (Tarzen) Arthur; a sister, Gladys Cales; and five brothers, Walt Cales, James (June) Cales, Bob Cales, Darrell Cales and Bill Cales.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Long of Ironton, June and Chuck Griggs of Catlettsburg, Ky. and Sharon Bates of Ironton;
11 grandchildren, Lisa Moore of Ironton, Shelly Sexton of Ironton, Anthony Arthur of Tennessee, Brianna Ruth of Pedro, Jenny Long of Ironton, Katie Long of Ironton, T.J. Taylor of Ironton, Bonnie Brown-Sutton of Ironton, Halee Griggs of Lexington, Ky., Lynn Cochran of Ironton and Toni Sandusky of Ironton; 16 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Tyler, Sierra, Tristin, Alyssa, Cheyenne, Richie, William,
            Adam, Matthew, Mary Sue, Allen, Dannielle, Tina and Wayatt; three great great grandchildren; one sister;  Mary Powell of Gahanna; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor David Lambert officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt.
