Ironton cross country runs well at Warren meet

VINCENT — The scenic hills looked pretty good to the Ironton Fighting Tigers cross country team.

Both the Ironton boys and girls turned in a solid performance at the Warren Scenic Hills Cross Country Invitational last Saturday.

The Ironton boys were sixth overall in the 18-team field with 183 points. Warren won the meet with 70 points, one less than runner-up Athens.

Leading the Fighting Tigers was Gary Monroe who ran an 18:35.7 to place ninth in the individual standings. Adam Stumbo was 23rd with a 19:06.7 clocking, Levi Runyon ran a 19:30.6 to place 29th, Dustin Moritz was No. 32 with a 19:50.0 time and Sean Lawless had a 26:51.6time to place 127.

The overall winner was Jeremy Anderson of Fort Frye with a 17:30.8 time.

The Lady Fighting Tigers were 10th among the 18 teams competing.

Taylor Hacker had an impressive performance as she ran a 21:31.9 to finish third individually.

Sarah Biehl of Fort Frye was first with a 21:15.5 time.

Ariel Schweickart’s 25:44.0 time was good for 47th place for the Lady Tigers. Kaylie Sturgill was 75th with a 28:17.8 time, Hannah Cronacher ran 30:38.8 to finish No. 88 and Alisa Schaus was 99th with a 32:56.5 time.

Ironton will run in the Athens Invitational on Saturday.
