An Ironton man who was released from prison earlier this year is going back after pleading guilty to new charges.

Stanley H. Carter, 31, of 2205 N. Seventh St., Ironton, pleaded guilty on a bill of information Wednesday to one count of aggravated possession of drugs.

Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Carter to 10 months in prison and fined him $1,250. Carter must also surrender his driver’s license for six months.

By pleading guilty on a bill of information, Carter avoids having his case heard by a grand jury or a common pleas jury and admits his guilt.

In 2004, Carter was sentenced to five years in prison for conviction on aggravated robbery and robbery charges. He was released in January.

A South Point man who can’t afford electronically monitored home confinement will stay in jail until he comes up with $75,000.

Christopher R. Hale, 20, of 503 Third St. E, South Point, is facing three counts of burglary, one count of grand theft from the elderly, three counts of theft from an elderly person and one count of tampering with evidence.

When he was arraigned, a $75,000 own recognizance bond was set, along with the electronic monitoring.

This allowed Hale to keep his job at a fast food restaurant. But Hale told Judge Charles Cooper Wednesday his hours have been cut and he can no longer afford the $15-a-day monitoring system.

Cooper set a new bond of $75,000 cash, surety or property.

In another case, Adrienne Besco, 20, 310 Township Road 301, Ironton, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, obstructing official business and drug paraphernalia charges Wednesday.

Bowling sentenced her to four years community control sanctions and ordered her to successfully complete a program at the STAR Community Justice Center.
