Lady Tigers drop match to Jackson

Good wasn’t good enough.

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers played well Tuesday, but the Jackson Ironladies played better as they won a straight sets 25-22, 25-15 and 25-20 in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League volleyball match.

“I thought we battled through some adversity against a very good Jackson team, but we just beat ourselves,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell.

“We had periods where we played really well, but then we’d hit a lull and let them score five or six points in a row and we were always fighting uphill.”

Brea Tackett led Ironton with 6 points, 13 assists, 4 digs and 2 kills.

Lorna Ceaser added 5 points — 3 aces — and 12 kills. Janie Morris had 7 points, 4 kills and 5 digs while Nikki Elswick had 6 kills, 4 assists and one point.

Meridith Harless led Jackson with 12 points while Mariah Harless and Morgan Mullins scored 9. Carissa Ohn added 5 points and Kelsey Martin 4.

In the reserve match, Jackson won 25-18, 25-7. Bekkah Potter had 4 points, Karlie Kriebel 3 and Andi Kratzenberg and Colleen Walker one each.

Ironton plays at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in an SEOAL match at Portsmouth.

SG-Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE — The South Gallia Lady Rebels down the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in straight sets Tuesday, 25-14, 25-12 and 25-21.

Ellie Bostic had 6 aces and Megan Caldwell 4 aces to pace South Gallia.

The Lady Panthers were led by Kristen Webb and Sara Rice.

In the reserve match, South Gallia won 25-17 and 25-14 as Tiffany Delaney had 15 points including three aces. Katelyn Heffner led the Lady Panthers.

Chesapeake plays at Rock Hill Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference match.
