Ironton apartment fire ruled arson

IRONTON — A fire at an apartment complex in the north end of Ironton has been ruled arson by the state fire marshal.

Investigators were able to rule out accidental causes and have evidence that supports the fire was intentionally set, according to Shane Cartmill, public information officer for the fire marshal.

Units of the Ironton Fire Department were called to 603 N. Fifth St. at 3:23 p.m. Friday. There they found a two-story frame structure engulfed. The structure housed multiple apartments and had as its listed owner B&B Holdings Inc., according to the fire department.

Units remained on the scene for about three and a half hours. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators are seeking additional information from the public. Anyone who has any details or information about the fire should call the Division of State Fire Marshal at 1-800-589-2728.

The Ironton Police and Fire Departments are assisting in the investigation.
