A Coal Grove woman accused of setting her rental home on fire was arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Jonna D. Turley, 31, of 206 Ridgeway St., was arraigned on two counts of aggravated arson. She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Davenport.

“These are serious charges,” Assistant Lawrence County Prosecutor Bob Anderson said in asking for something other than an own recognizance bond for Turley.

Davenport pointed out Turley is “a member of the community, and she is not a flight risk,” in asking for a bond more favorable to his client.

He told Judge D. Scott Bowling Turley had been in jail three months already, awaiting arraignment.

Bowling set bond at $25,000 cash, surety or property along with a $50,000 own recognizance (OR) bond. She must return to court this week for a pretrial conference.

Also Wednesday, Carie J. Keabler, 23, of 807 N. Fourth St., Ironton, was arraigned on charges of receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card.

She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Gleichauf. Bowling allowed bond set in a lower court to continue and scheduled a Sept. 23 pretrial conference.

Michael Smith, 52, of 999 Coal Bank Hollow, Ironton, was arraigned on one count of breaking and entering.

He pleaded not guilty through Gleichauf, who is also his attorney.

Bowling set bond at $10,0000 cash, surety or property plus a $20,000 own recognizance (OR) bond and set a pretrial conference date of Sept. 30.

Smith is accused of breaking into Iron City Hardware and stealing a television set.

Melvin S. Keller, 44, 1556 State Route 140, Oak Hill, was arraigned on one count of burglary with a firearm specification and one count of aggravated arson.

Gleichauf, who also represents Keller, said at this time Keller would plead both not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.

Judge Charles Cooper set bond at $50,000 but and ordered Shawnee Forensics Center to conduct a mental evaluation of Keller.

Tina Hanshaw, 45, of 2165 County Road 22, Ironton, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to three counts of theft, two counts of forgery and one count of tampering with evidence.

Bowling sentenced her to a total of three years in prison and ordered her to pay $699 in restitution.

Johnny L. Miller, 27, 64 Private Drive 423, Pedro, was arraigned on one count of vandalism.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge. Bowling set bond at $20,000 with electronically monitored home confinement.

Miller must return to court Sept. 30 for a pretrial conference.
