PEDRO — Stella A. Jiles, 86, of Pedro, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at a local health care center. The Pedro native was born Aug. 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Jesse Clarence and Hattie Delawder Sizemore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur “Poke” Jiles.
Mrs. Jiles attended Pedro Schools, was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a homemaker and has lived in Pedro area most of her life.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Cheryl Russell and Kathryn Avery; three sisters, Myrtle Sizemore, Selma Perry, and Ethel Kidd; three brothers, Elmer Sizemore, Vernon Wood Sizemore and Rev. Carl Sizemore; a grandchild and one great grandchild.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Harold “Tinker” and Joann Giles of Pedro; son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Penny Jiles of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Kenneth and Jennie Jiles of Pedro; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sherry Jiles of Pedro; son, Ed Jiles of Pedro; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Henrietta Jiles of Wurtland, Ky.; daughter, Karen Sue Cox of Pedro; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and John Payton of Galt, Calif.; daughter, Sheila Brown of Pedro; son, Jeffrey Jiles of Pedro; 41 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Blagg of Minster.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Willard Blankenship and Rev. Jesse Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
